There always seems to be some controversy over intellectual property rights and the role of church staff. Every church I talk to has a different policy on who owns the content created for the church.

Hybels is accountable to Willow's elders and their publishing policy. Yet, Maxwell, Lucado, Olsteen, Young, Jr. have always fought to own their IP. At Granger they don't. Some worship leaders create special music while "on the clock" of a church, yet get to own and sell the publishing rights, yet most drama script writers don't. We believe in empowering our team to have the freedom to launch personal companies and websites and sell their materials and create additional income for their families.
